Tour Description:
First stop is in Montserrat, home of the Our Lady of Montserrat, commonly known as La Moreneta (the Dark One) due to the dark color of the sculpture. During the walking tour in Montserrat, your guide will tell you interesting facts about the region and why the craggy mountain and its beautiful monastery have been one of Spain’s most important pilgrimage sites since the 12th century. You may want to take the cable car and see the sanctuary from above, which has been in use for almost 1000 years for pilgrims, who have climbed this spectacular mountain. Explore the magnificent mountains of the Natural Park and enjoy the scenic views. Continue with a visit of the Royal Basilica and the Museum of Montserrat (own expense) to learn about Montserrat’s spiritual and cultural importance and see art work from Picasso, Dalí and Monet.
Before returning to Barcelona, head to Penedès, the capital of Cava (Catalan champagne). Visit a local winery and learn how the famous wine and cava are produced, from the first pressing of the grapes to the fermentation in the vast expanse of cellars. This will be accompanied by a tasting session to see exactly why they have acquired such international fame.

We loved our half day Montserrat tour. It was an amazing break from Barcelona and so nice to get out into nature. The Monastery was beautiful and the hike lead to breath taking views. The hike was a little intense and not suitable to those with limited mobility, in wheelchairs, or with strollers. The paths are well maintained, but very steep at times. Our tour guide Magalí was wonderful and very knowledgable of the area and sites. She was very friendly and was willing to answer any and all questions, even those about Spain and Catalan culture
We had an interesting tour to Monserat. We enjoyed the time with Barbara, got lots of information and had a very sympathetic guide.
Muchísimas gracias por las fotos y el feedback del tour!
Ayer mandé el link con las fotos al cliente y nos ha contestado lo siguiente:
“Also, please thank Nadine and the guides Barbara (from Living It) and Ivan our mountaineer. We had a wonderful day at Montserrat. This was at the end of the day at a lovely and delicious restaurant known to all the locals but not many travelers! So it was a real treat to eat authentic food. The whole trip was wonderful as per usual. Many thanks for a truly special trip”.
Muchas gracias por todo!!!
Our guide was punctual at our hotel. Schedule was just as planned. She explained us lots of interesting things about the Park and the life in the Monastery. We also had some time to explore around it by our selves. We really appreciated that…. Lunch was in a very old traditional house, were monks used to live. The best part of the tour: the wine tasting in this little winery. Amazing philosophy to produce wine! We tried 6 different types! Thank you for such a complete day!
Fantastic trip – really recommend it if you are visiting Barcelona and fancy a day out in the country. Amazing place Montserrat, our guide was very knowledgeable and explain us, a lot of stories about he monastery in Montserrat and the Black Madonna.
The lunch and the wine tasting was terrific.
